A little bit about Naomi and Megan Stein of Design Manifest
Design Manifest's ultimate goal is to create inspiring and harmonious spaces that allow families and individuals to function at their very best, while making lasting memories in their home.
Originally founded in 1986 as a residential construction firm on Philadelphia’s Main Line, Design Manifest took its first steps towards becoming a full-service residential design and construction management company in 2004 when Naomi Stein joined her father Andrew’s team.
Through 12 years of working together, Naomi absorbed her father’s wealth of knowledge in high-end remodeling and added her sharp eye for luxurious finishes space planning and color that took the business to the next level. When Andrew retired in 2016, Naomi reincorporated as Design Manifest LLC, and a new chapter was born.
Megan graduated from Drexel's Masters program in Fashion design before studying haute couture in Paris. She went on to intern at top fashion design houses in Europe and spent a decade travelling the world interpreting global fashion trends for Anthropologie and Free People.
In 2018 Megan stepped away from fashion to begin working alongside her sister, Naomi, at Design Manifest. Together, their visions for beautiful interiors and drive for impeccable execution make for great creative and professional chemistry.
What is your favorite classic with a twist? Can be anything, interior design related, food, drinks, architecture?
We never get tired of upholstering a vintage wingback chair in a fabulous modern fabric with lots of personality. Those classic silhouettes wear bold fabrics well!
How did you find out about Dowel Furniture?
We first saw Dowel at High Point in 2019 and were charmed by the Grant lounge chair and the flexibility in finishes and fabric options Dowel offered.
Which pieces did you choose for your projects and why did you choose those pieces for your clients?
Gardner Counter Stool and Milkmaid Counter Stool
We call this project "The Penn Valley Pearl". It is a historic residence on Philadelphia's Main Line that we renovated and decorated from 2019-2020. We blended midcentury influences with a muted pastel palette to play off of the very stately Federal architecture of the home. We chose to use the Gardner counter stools for the kitchen island as they fit well with the curvilinear and elegant furnishing styles in our design and the Milkmaid counter stool was the perfect perch for the wood-topped workstation at the end of the island.
Grant Lounge Chair
Lastly, we also had the Grant lounge chair upholstered in a faux shearling for the formal living room.
